The ALICE. pack has been used by the army since the Vietnam War and by people who know the value of such a economical pack system. The packs are all 420 denier military nylon duck in olive drab(Optional : Cotton canvas or PE & Polyster fabric) and the frames are anodized green aluminum. They utilize velcro and lash/attachment patches.
